The Berkeley Changemaker® digital certificate of completion celebrates students who exemplify Berkeley’s signature approach to driving positive change through critical thinking, communication, and collaboration (the three C's)
By completing three or more interdisciplinary Berkeley Changemaker–designated courses, recipients demonstrate their ability to think creatively across disciplines, communicate effectively, and work collaboratively to turn ideas into action.
The certificate and the digital badge recognizes the student's commitment to creating impact and mastery of the three C’s—skills that employers highly value.

Certificate Information
To earn the digital certificate, students select courses available in the Berkeley Changemaker list of approved courses. Other courses may become available as they are approved for the certificate.
After completing three courses and a minimum of 5 units, students must fill out this form: https://forms.gle/XgpZkwPjmR3yRBaY7(link is external).
Please do not submit your request for the digital certificate until you have completed each qualifying course and your grade is posted.
Once the certificate is approved, in addition to receiving a digital PDF of the certificate (via email), students will receive an electronic badge that can be shared on social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram. These digital credentials are not recorded on the official university transcript.
Substitutions and waivers are not allowed. Courses that count towards the certificate must be a Berkeley Changemaker-designated course during the semester the course is taken and must from the published list of Berkeley Changemaker courses. Each course can only be applied once towards the earning of the certificate. This certificate can only be earned once per student.
Certificates are processed in batches, normally at the end of each month. Please allow up to 30 days for your request to be reviewed.
Requirements To Earn the Digital Certificate
- Successfully complete either The Berkeley Changemaker or the Living with Agency course (only one of these two courses is required).
- Complete a minimum of 3 courses and a minimum of 5 units of instruction (units earned in either The Berkeley Changemaker or Living with Agency course count towards the 5-unit minimum requirement)
- Earn a grade of C or above (or "Pass" for the Newton series or for the Openness to Opposing Views course)
- Students must fill out this form

As a final step, after you fill out the certificate request form, email changemaker@berkeley.edu to let us know your request has been submitted.
Note: Repeated courses will only be counted once. Students can only count one course from the Newton series towards the certificate.
